The Caribbean is a region located in the western Atlantic Ocean, comprising the Caribbean Sea, its islands, and the surrounding coasts. The Caribbean is divided into several different time zones, determined by the longitude of a particular region. Some of the major time zones in the Caribbean are:
- UTC-04:00: This time zone is observed in the southeastern Caribbean, including Barbados, Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago.
- UTC-05:00: This time zone is observed in the northern Caribbean, including the Bahamas and Cuba.
- UTC-06:00: This time zone is observed in the western Caribbean, including Belize and Honduras.
Note that many Caribbean countries observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), which temporarily shifts the standard time in a region by one hour during certain parts of the year. This is done to make better use of sunlight during the longer days of summer. Some Caribbean countries that observe DST include the United States Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The Caribbean is home to many small islands and territories, many of which have their own time zones. These time zones are often based on the time zone of the nearest major landmass, but they can also be influenced by other factors, such as the time zone of the country that administers the territory.
